Department Summary The Department of Physical Therapy prepares future movement specialists through an evidence-based and patient-centered curriculum. The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, available in both residential and hybrid pathways, blends foundational sciences, hands-on training, and clinical experiences to develop well-rounded and compassionate providers. Faculty collaborate with local physical therapy professionals to ensure students receive the most relevant and impactful education. With a low student-to-faculty ratio, interdisciplinary learning opportunities, and clinical placements across the state and beyond, the department fosters leadership and innovation in physical therapy. The curriculum supports research and professional development, equipping graduates to improve patient mobility and quality of life. Position Overview The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of North Texas Health at Fort Worth is seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank for a 12-month appointment, effective immediately. This position will provide leadership for the pediatric physical therapy curriculum across both the Residential and Hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs. Primary responsibilities include serving as the course director for all pediatric content, developing, delivering, and assessing pediatric coursework, mentoring and advising DPT students, participating in program assessment and curriculum development, and engaging in departmental, university, and professional service activities. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty across both pathways to ensure curricular consistency and excellence while supporting the department's mission to prepare exceptional physical therapists through evidence-informed education, innovation, and interprofessional collaboration. Minimum Qualifications Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from a CAPTE-accredited program. Eligibility for Texas physical therapist licensure or current Texas PT license. Minimum of three (3) years of contemporary clinical experience in pediatric physical therapy. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated expertise in pediatric physical therapy practice. Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills. Commitment to creating and maintaining an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment. Commitment to evidence-informed teaching, student mentorship, and professional development. Active participation in professional organizations or service activities at the local, state, or national level. Preferred Qualifications Post-professional academic degree (completed or in progress) (e.g., PhD, EdD, DSc). Previous teaching experience in an entry-level DPT program. Experience teaching in both residential and hybrid/online learning environments. Experience serving as a course director and participating in curriculum development and assessment. Experience with interprofessional education, simulation, and other innovative teaching strategies. Evidence of scholarship consistent with faculty expectations. Required License/Registration/Certifications Licensed to practice in Texas or license to practice in Texas by the time of hire. Physical Requirements Communicating with others to exchange information. Lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Environmental Hazards No adverse environmental conditions expected.
