Location Sacramento, CA with a flexible hybrid schedule that allows attorneys to work remotely up to two days per week. Note Must have an active California Bar license and at least 1 year of substantive tax controversy experience. An LL.M. in Tax or tax concentration is preferred but not required. Job Description Represent clients in federal, state, and local tax controversies and disputes. Handle IRS and state tax audits, administrative appeals, refund claims, and Tax Court proceedings. Respond to agency inquiries and develop effective controversy strategies. Draft protests, petitions, briefs, motions, and other advocacy materials. Conduct legal research and analyze financial records, tax issues, and transactional documents. Participate in administrative hearings, negotiations, and tax litigation. Advise closely held businesses, partnerships, individuals, estates, trusts, and tax-exempt organizations. Collaborate with attorneys across tax, litigation, corporate, real estate, and trusts and estates practices. Qualifications Active California Bar admission. 1+ year of tax controversy and litigation experience. Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. LL.M. in Tax or tax concentration from an ABA accredited law school preferred, but not required.
