Patient Ratios: 6:1 on Acute Care, 4:1 on Neuro Stepdown

Staffing Description

1 RN Charge overseeing all of 10 Tower
1-2 Techs available
Unit Secretary present

Equipment

Acute Care Side: Vital sign machine, high-flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, various drips, and all stroke-related equipment.

Neuro Stepdown: Vapotherm, Bipap, Trachs, and titrating cardiac drips.

Documentation System

Meditech

Scheduling Requirements

Weekend shifts are required. Floating policy allows experienced nurses to float after orientation.

Patient Experience Requirements

Bedside shift report
Personal connection with patients
Daily huddle participation

Certifications

BLS certification required for Acute Care
BLS and ACLS certifications required for Neuro Stepdown

Required Skill Set

Strong nursing skills and time management in Acute Care
Experience in Neuro Stepdown is preferred
Advanced critical thinking skills are essential

Procedures Performed on Unit

Common procedures include lumbar puncture and chest tube placement.

Dress Code

Uniforms can be black, any shade of blue or grey. Any color scrubs are permitted on Fridays.
