Scientist 1 - Asbestos

Shift & Location Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Full‑time onsite position located in Woburn, MA. Summary This Scientist1 TEM asbestos analyst will analyze customer samples for asbestos content using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Experience with TEM is highly preferred. Essential Functions Provides intermediate to complex analysis and review of testing results, following Standard Operating Procedures and methods on various analytic instrumentation. Oversees chemistry/biochemistry forms, databases, and related documents. Delivers counsel to staff, management, and functional leaders regarding policies, programs, and practices. Analyzes operational data, identifies trends, and presents findings and recommendations. Maintains and calibrates equipment, ensuring accuracy through audits and operational reviews. Participates in cross‑functional projects, contributing to budgets, timelines, and objectives. Promotes and supports the overall mission of Pace Analytical by exhibiting courteous and cooperative behavior toward customers and staff. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related science field. Approximately two (2) years of direct experience is ideal; equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is considered. Intermediate to complex knowledge of chemistry/biochemistry principles, practices and techniques. Understanding of microscopy/chemistry program administration, troubleshooting, and optimization. Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations; ability to apply and explain them. Proficiency with testing tools, equipment, and calibration. Strong computer application skills for documentation and data management. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing projects and providing mentorship. Physical & Mental Requirements Work in a laboratory and office setting, using standard office and lab equipment. Must be able to sit for extended periods. May lift up to 20lb occasionally and 10lb frequently. Requires good vision and hearing for reading and communication. Reasonable accommodations may be provided. Working Environment Laboratory exposure to chemicals, fumes, gases, and noxious odors. Office environment may involve paper, paper products, and occasional lifting.
