Technical Writer

Location: On-site at USCP Headquarters, SW Washington, DC (minimum 2 days/week; 3 days telework after a two-month full on-site acclimation period) Clearance: Must pass a USCP criminal history check, fingerprinting, and background investigation; U.S. Citizenship required Job Type: Full-time Contract Type: Government Contract (Base Year: February 1, 2027 - January 31, 2028; four 12-month option periods) Position Overview Seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support the USCP Office of Information Systems (OIS), Information Resource Management Division (IRMD). This role prepares, edits, and maintains technical documents such as manuals, guides, training materials, and reports. The Technical Writer works with subject matter experts to ensure documents are accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational standards, and supports document review, updates, and publishing processes. This is a non-personal services contract position. The contractor employee reports directly to the Prime Contractor for HR, disciplinary, and administrative matters, while receiving work direction from the Government Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and OIS leadership. Key Responsibilities Prepare, edit, and maintain technical documents including manuals, guides, training materials, and reports Work with subject matter experts to ensure documents are accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational standards Support document review, updates, and publishing processes Interface with the Document Workflow System to ensure proper routing, review, and completion of all required sign-offs Gain a consolidated view of 4-5 projects and produce revised OIS Internal Procedures as formal deliverables Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree Experience: Minimum 5 years of technical writing and desktop publishing experience Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat (PDF) Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required Security: Must pass USCP criminal history check, fingerprinting, and background investigation Preferred Qualifications Experience with Document Workflow Systems Experience supporting federal government IT documentation Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements for documents Schedule & Work Conditions Hours: Normal business hours, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays Telework: On-site minimum 2 days/week; 3 days telework after two-month full on-site acclimation period. USCP may increase on-site requirements based on situational awareness.
