Company Description: Hoffmann Heimos Greenhouses ("Heimos") is one of the country’s largest greenhouse operations, with a legacy that began in 1951 as a small produce stand outside St. Louis. The company is seeking a hands on, operationally oriented Financial Controller to lead our finance organization through its next phase of operational improvement and profitable growth. Heimos is part of Hoffmann Family of Companies, a diversified, family-owned investment firm with 200+ operating companies and more than 28,000 employees across the United States and Canada, providing Heimos with the resources and long‑term orientation to invest in the business and support its continued growth. Role Description: This is not a traditional accounting role. We are looking for a finance leader who can strengthen financial discipline, improve cash flow and working capital, create visibility into product and customer profitability, enhance forecasting and controls, and become a true business partner to the leadership team. You'll be equally comfortable strengthening the monthly close, building a 13-week cash forecast, analyzing SKU level profitability, and walking the greenhouse floor with operations, and helping leadership make better commercial and capital-allocation decisions. What You’ll Own: As the senior financial leader of the business and a key partner to the President/CEO, operating leadership, and Hoffmann Family of Companies financial leadership and business partnership, you are responsible for: Translating financial information into clear operating actions that improve EBITDA, cash generation, and long-term enterprise value. Oversight of all accounting, financial reporting, treasury, tax coordination, audit support, and internal controls to strengthen and institutionalize accrual-based accounting and financial reporting Ownership of cash forecasting and liquidity management, including implementation and maintenance of a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast. Creating greater visibility into where the company generates economic value and where margin is being lost. Leading the annual budgeting process and establishing a disciplined rolling forecasting process that appropriately reflect the highly seasonal nature of the greenhouse business. Supporting commercial and operational decisions by partnering closely with sales, production, growing, purchasing, logistics, and operations to improve profitability. Evaluating existing accounting and operating systems and identify opportunities to improve financial data integrity, reporting, and automation. Required Criteria: Seeking $115k-$125k salary with 20% bonus target Experience as hands-on Controller or VP Finance or as direct report to Controller or VP Finance Experience evaluating/strengthening processes and internal controls in accounting and finance (monthly financial reporting on an accrual basis, accounting research, account reconciliations, inventory/cost accounting, audit/review prep, financial analysis, working capital management, budgeting, 13-week cash flow forecasting) Comfortable as the senior financial leader reporting to the President/CEO (the company does not have a CFO), cross-functional partnering/collaboration (e.g., improving financial performance, preparing/analyzing customer/SKU profitability, assisting in capital-allocation decisions) and the primary go-to person for key third parties (e.g., audit/review, tax) Experience leveraging productivity-enhancing technology in accounting/finance to improve the timeliness, accuracy and automation of financial reporting and data for decision making Able to work onsite five days/week in SW Illinois (working in Randolph, Monroe, St. Clair, Madison or Washington County) Preferred Qualifications: Experience at seasonal, inventory-intensive and/or entrepreneurial companies Food manufacturing or agricultural industry experience in accounting/finance #J-18808-Ljbffr Hoffmann Heimos Greenhouses
