Role Description

The General Manager is a full-time, on-site leadership role based at The Academy Hotel in Colorado Springs, CO. This role oversees all hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance, and sales, to ensure high levels of guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. The General Manager is responsible for managing budgets, monitoring financial performance, setting revenue and occupancy targets, and controlling costs. Day-to-day tasks include leading and coaching department leaders, setting service standards, resolving guest issues, ensuring safety and compliance, and implementing operational policies. The General Manager also drives local marketing and community relationships, manages vendor and partner contracts, and ensures that the hotel meets brand, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in hotel or hospitality operations management, including oversight of front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in coaching teams, performance management, and creating an inclusive work environment.
• Financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, and cost control.
• Excellent guest service, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities, with a focus on maintaining high satisfaction scores.
• Knowledge of hotel safety, security, and regulatory compliance standards, including health and workplace policies.
• Proficiency with hotel management systems, reservation platforms, and basic office software tools.
• Ability to work on-site with a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in hotel general management strongly considered.
• Previous experience as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or senior department leader in a hotel or similar hospitality environment.
