Director of Development and Fundraising

Position Summary: Penobscot Theater Company seeks an experienced, strategic, enthusiastic, and outgoing development professional to lead the organization’s fundraising efforts, expand and deepen our community connections, and instill a culture of philanthropy among staff, volunteers, and board members. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for the arts, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in fundraising and development. The Director of Development will report to the Artistic Director and work closely with the Marketing Director and Box Office Manager. Schedule This position is a member of PTC Admin. Work schedule is M-F with weekends and evenings as required. Duties Collaborates with the Artistic Director (AD) and Marketing Director (MD) to develop a Comprehensive Development plan and Vision Leads fundraising strategies and initiatives for PTC and Dramatic Academy (DA - Educational Program) Plans and executes fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives Tracks, documents and mails all donor and grant acknowledgements Assists in data collection—review and analyze ROI to inform strategy Supports events management and coordination Partners with Artistic Director to identify and apply for new foundation and government grants Represents PTC at events as appropriate Works with AD to develop and execute Community Outreach events Engages and supports the Board in their fundraising efforts Oversees the development and implementation of a planned giving program Assists in nonprofit management tasks as needed Qualifications Minimum of two to three years experience working in nonprofit fundraising and development or relevant sales/community experience Ability to think outside the box and creatively assess fundraising avenues Ability to manage competing responsibilities and proven skills in project management Demonstrated ability to build personal relationships with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills Comfort leading solicitations in‑person and virtually Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and diplomacy Experience with database management Passion for the Performing Arts Microsoft Office & Google Suite (Required) Bachelor’s degree Don’t check off every box in the requirements listed above?
