POSITION DETAILS: This position works 40 weeks per year, 5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day and follows the EVSC School Board of Trustees approved school calendar. SALARY: Year Hourly Rate 0 $14.07 1 $14.61 2 $15.15 3 $15.69 4 $16.23 5 $16.77 6 $17.31 7 $17.85 8 $18.12 9 $18.39 10 $18.66 Annual, incremental pay increases are given for each year of at least 120 days of service with the EVSC in this role. Click here to view the rates for each plan. If elected, insurance coverage begins the first of the month following the successful completion of a 20 working-day probationary period. Employees enrolled in an EVSC medical insurance plan are eligible to use any of the three EVSC Health & Wellness Centers. The health clinics provide primary care services, generic prescription medications, physicals, health screenings, and labs; all at NO COST to the employee or covered family member. EVSC employees have access to the EVSC Wee Care Learning Centers. The Wee Care program provides a quality early learning experience for children as young as six weeks through age five at a special employee rate. This position will automatically be enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement Fund (PERF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA). Employees may also participate in a 403(b) Plan. Eligible employees may enroll in the EVSC group life insurance and long term disability plans. EVSC also offers a variety of voluntary insurance products through American Fidelity. EVSC offers a free Employee Assistance Program (EAP). It is a confidential, voluntary service that provides professional counseling and referral services designed to help employees and their family members with personal, job or family-related matters. SUMMARY: Responsible for the preparation of quality, nutritious, safe meals in accordance with federal, state and local guidelines ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Prepares and maintains quality, nutritious food Forecasts amounts of food needed and keeps serving line supplied in a timely manner Proactively reacts to changes in food production needs Practices safe food handling Uses preparation equipment in a safe and efficient manner Cleans and maintains preparation equipment Understands basic meal planning principles Maintains accurate food production records Receives food and supply orders according to approved guidelines Participates in good inventory control Aids manager in the ordering of food and supplies Assists in the training of serving and food preparation food service assistants Maintains regular attendance JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to establish and maintain friendly effective working relationships with co-workers, staff, students and their parents. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Two to three years previous quantity food preparation experience. Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide in relation to forecasting and recipe adjustment. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Successful completion of the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Course. Successful completion of the EVSC Cook's Training class. Member of the School Nutrition Association is highly desirable. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents and school staff. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately. Ability to perform these operations using units of money, weight and volume measurement. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
