Associate Director, Global Insights, General Medicine

Job Overview Amgen is a biotechnology pioneer focused on treating serious illnesses. The Associate Director, Global Insights – General Medicine leads insight generation and strategic analysis to support commercial decision-making across the Global Commercial organization. Responsibilities Translate unstructured business issues into action plans and high‑quality deliverables that drive business impact. Integrate insights from primary market research, competitive intelligence, and secondary data to address business needs and influence critical go/no‑go decisions. Design and facilitate internal workshops to build shared cross‑functional understanding of hypotheses, gaps, and forward‑looking action plans. Partner with Therapeutic Area leadership to inform and influence therapeutic area strategy. Plan, design, and conduct primary market research for multiple assets across product life cycle stages. Conduct ad hoc strategic secondary analytics to support strategic decisions. Communicate findings in written and verbal presentations, influencing leadership to incorporate insights. Lead cross‑region and cross‑portfolio initiatives with global, regional, and local commercial teams. Set priorities, develop and manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously. Qualifications Basic qualifications: Doctorate + 2 years commercial insights or consulting experience Master’s + 4 years commercial insights or consulting experience Bachelor’s + 6 years commercial insights or consulting experience Associate’s + 10 years commercial insights or consulting experience High school diploma / GED + 12 years commercial insights or consulting experience Preferred qualifications: Ability to extract, analyze, and consolidate data from diverse sources with rigor and high accuracy. Strong knowledge of drug development and the pharmaceutical industry. Experience leading primary market research. Strategic thinking to support key business decisions. Collaborative team‑based work across functional groups. Excellent presentation skills for complex concepts and audiences ranging from senior management to cross‑functional stakeholders. Proficiency in prioritizing multiple responsibilities, tasks, and projects simultaneously. Experience with biopharmaceutical industry datasets and databases. Stakeholder management and bandwidth allocation across multiple responsibilities. Prior strategy/management consulting experience in the biopharma industry, preferably in a lead role.
