The Staff Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager with accountability for providing excellent service for those who have been victims of disaster and for restoring property and lives with a servant’s heart. Job Responsibilities Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, perform account reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies, ensuring proper classification of transactions. Complete monthly journal entries and assist in the execution of financial closings on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Maintain accounting accruals for month‑end close. Maintain the fixed assets and lease software/schedules, including month‑end close detail and annual audit detail. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations. Prepare and own the monthly commission and bonus submissions. Act as the company’s liaison to outsourced tax consultants. Communicate with internal stakeholders about changes, corrections, or other issues. Assist with information requests for outside audits and other third parties in a timely and responsive manner. Assist the Accounting Manager in day‑to‑day operations. Continuously assess accounting processes and systems, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvement and implementing best practices. Assist Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams during peak work periods. Perform any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business. CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred. Experience: Minimum of three years of accounting experience; 5+ years in a fast‑paced environment is ideal. Strong knowledge of accounting principles. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred). Attention to detail and deadline oriented. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Language Skills The Staff Accountant must read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. They must write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively to customers and/or employees in English. Technical Skills Proficiency with industry‑related software, touch typing, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and communication via cell phone and appropriate apps. Reasoning Ability The Staff Accountant should solve practical problems, handle situations with limited standardization, and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form in English. Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit; use hands/fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift/move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
