Position Summary

The Math Teacher plans and delivers standards-based mathematics instruction that promotes problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and conceptual understanding, while fostering student engagement and academic growth.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate mathematics endorsement.
Knowledge of effective instructional strategies, assessment practices, and classroom management.
Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction to support student learning.
Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
Regular and reliable attendance.

Essential Functions, Physical Demands, and Work Environment

Plan and deliver standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with district curriculum.
Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to support student learning and engagement.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including whole group, small group, and individualized instruction.
Implement accommodations and instructional supports in accordance with student IEPs and 504 Plans.
Monitor student progress through assessments and data analysis and adjust instructional practices accordingly.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide timely feedback to students and families.
Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures and a positive learning environment.
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and instructional leadership to support student achievement.
Utilize instructional technology and district resources to enhance learning.
Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings and professional development activities.
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the building administrator consistent with the effective operation of the school.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a classroom and school environment with regular interaction with students and staff.
The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school building for extended periods while supervising and instructing students.
The employee may occasionally bend, stoop, reach, and lift classroom materials or equipment up to approximately 20 pounds.
The position requires the ability to operate instructional technology and visually and verbally monitor student behavior and classroom activities.

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
