Marketing Strategist

This position plays a central role in the creation, and execution, of strategic marketing plans which support WVU Medicine’s strategic business priorities and operational goals. This person will focus on marketing activities of his assigned clinical programs, and must have the ability to work within many areas of marketing, including working well with team members, having a strong understanding of marketing budgets, be able to place media buys in a variety of formats (print, digital, out-of-home, broadcast), executing marketing campaigns across multiple marketing channels, executing the social media strategy in support of assigned services and developing copy and content that can be repurposed across multiple outreach channels. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field. EXPERIENCE Two (2) years of experience in marketing. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Five (5) years of experience in marketing. Healthcare marketing experience. Develops and executes best practices, compiling metrics to gauge program success, and looking for creative solutions to support overall team initiatives. Writes, copy edits, proofreads, and repurposes content marketing deliverables (e.g. – collateral and web pages). Supports content/editorial calendar that attracts a qualified audience. Supports the creation of digital graphics and basic design and layout of materials. Supports marketing automation and digital marketing campaigns. Supports SEO/SEM and display advertising campaigns. Accompanies vendors, media contacts for on campus visits Performs support duties including but not limited to: database management, reporting and analytics, monitoring industry trends and best practices, maintaining marketing materials, and tradeshow / event support. Supports appointed Physician Outreach Liaison collateral needs; coordination of client needs to align with Liaison needs. Supports the clients which fall under the auspices of this Strategist. As a beat lead, this candidate will communicate with and support the marketing needs of the clinical enterprise, specific to the service line assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged sitting at a desk, some walking, lifting and carrying of marketing materials. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Normal office working environment. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have strong creative and professional writing skills. Highly proficient with Adobe Creative Suite. Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Familiarity with CRM. Familiarity with SEO and SEM best practices. Familiarity with web-based CMS and marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics a plus). Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints. Strong Independent project and time management skills. Firm understanding of print production and management. Capable of handling multiple tasks with competing priorities under minimal supervision. Ability to think critically and exercise independent judgment and discretion. Technologically-savvy and resourceful. Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking. Results-oriented and solution-focused with a problem-solving attitude. Highly organized and ability to exercise strong attention to detail. Effective communicator in speaking and writing. Self-motivated with a learning attitude and a sense of urgency.
