Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician - Outdoor & Grounds

Facility Maintenance Technician - Lead Worker Position Summary: This position is a member of the Department of Exercise and Sport Science (EXSS) Facility/Utility Crew which supports the maintenance, minor facilities and equipment repairs, grounds work, field maintenance, carpentry projects, minor renovations, and equipment set ups for LFIT classes and departmental events. The majority of responsibilities will be at the Outdoor Education Center (OEC) complex. The position serves as Lead Worker for one Facilities Maintenance/Building Trades Technician at the OEC, reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Qualifications Working knowledge of plant maintenance procedures used in landscape installation and grounds maintenance. Experience in supervision or team lead. Basic knowledge of Environmental Safety. Basic knowledge of small equipment used in landscaping and building maintenance. Demonstrated excellence in customer service and communication. Physical/Mental Requirements Some lifting required to complete various tasks. Position Schedule and Requirements Evening work occasionally; Overtime occasionally; Valid NC Driver’s License; Weekend work occasionally.
