Environmental Scientist 1

Overview Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Professional (Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist) for the Charlotte, North Carolina office. The role will spend 80–90% of its time in the field as part of the Resilience Environment team, supporting environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation. Responsibilities Assist Project Managers and Task Managers in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Coordinate field operations, oversee drilling for soil sampling, groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, construction and operation of remediation systems, vapor intrusion and soil gas surveys. Maintain health and safety standards during all field work. Prepare technical reports, work plans, letters, memoranda, and regulatory file reviews. Perform task coordination, data compilation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts. Conduct soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling in compliance with NCDEQ Standard Operating Procedures. Travel & Physical Requirements Field work will require regional business travel for up to 4–5 days per week and occasional U.S. travel for up to two weeks at a time. Candidates must have a clean driving record and be able to work outside in all weather conditions and lift heavy equipment. Physical demands include standing for extended periods. Qualifications BA or BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related field. Strong written and oral communication skills. Self‑motivated, independent thinker capable of working both independently and as part of a team, including remote collaboration. Adaptable, creative problem solver. Preferred Qualifications Experience with NCDEQ environmental regulations and SOPs. Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40‑hour or 8‑hour training.
