Entry-Level Environmental Scientist/Engineer

Role Description Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Due Diligence (EDD) Practitioner to support national and regional EDD projects and programs, including site evaluation, research, and report writing. This role requires both field and office work, with the ideal candidate located in one of the listed regions and spending up to 40–50% of the time in the field (mainly regional). As part of the Resilience Environment team, you will work closely with the EDD Community of Practice group to develop technical assessment and writing skills and produce high‑quality work products for clients in accordance with ASTM E1527‑21. Responsibilities Conduct PhaseI ESA site visits at retail, commercial, and manufacturing facilities; interview property representatives and government agencies; and perform file review requests. Document field observations, interview details, and photographic evidence in a clear and factual manner. Review and research historical records, remediation reports, environmental database records, and permits; identify and conduct further research with regulatory agencies as needed to meet the ASTM standard or client needs. Write and prepare technical reports, summarizing key records and contributing to the preparation of figures and graphical representations. Provide input regarding potential environmental conditions and risks, and the approach to evaluating those risks (PhaseII ESA). Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a closely related field. Strong technical writing skills. Valid driver’s license and good driving record; ability to work outdoors in potentially inclement weather. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience conducting, writing, and evaluating PhaseI ESAs. Industry, consulting, or internship experience in the environmental sector. Client interaction and/or management experience. Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations (air, solid, hazardous waste, water, chemical/petroleum bulk storage, RCRA, SARA, CERCLA, etc.).
