USA, 6000 Highlands Parkway, Smyrna, Georgia, United States of America Job Description Posted Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 4:00 AM General Purpose The Government Contract Specialist is responsible for preparing, negotiating, securing and managing government contracts in compliance with strict legal and regulatory requirements. This role requires deep knowledge of federal and state procurement regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) as well as export control regulations, including the U.S. Department of State’s International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security’s (BIS) Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The Specialist will lead contract processes from proposal development through closeout, ensuring full compliance, operational efficiency, and alignment with organizational objectives. Shift(s) Available 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday Duties and Responsibilities Proposal Development Collaborate with proposal writers, subject matter experts, and technical teams to develop clear, compliant, and competitive proposals. Ensure proposals fully address solicitation requirements and evaluation criteria. Tailor submissions to highlight the organization’s unique value proposition and differentiators. Conduct detailed reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness. Compliance Management Ensure adherence to applicable federal and state regulations, including FAR, DFARS, CMMC, and SAM.gov as well as applicable export control regulations, including ITAR and EAR, when relevant. Review contracts, proposals, and support documentation for legal and procedural compliance. Identify and resolve potential compliance issues to prevent disqualification or audit risks. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and industry standards. Contract Administration & Management Oversee the full lifecycle of awarded contracts from award through completion. Monitor contract performance and ensure all deliverables and obligations are met. Manage contract modifications, amendments, and extensions. Address compliance issues and coordinate corrective actions when necessary. Identify risks related to export control compliance and develop mitigation strategies to prevent violations, penalties, or operational disruptions. Advise leadership on risk implications and recommended actions. Closeout & Reporting Ensure timely and accurate completion of contract closeout activities. Confirm all deliverables, reporting requirements, and financial obligations are satisfied. Prepare and submit final reports and documentation. Maintain strong relationships with contracting officers and agencies to support future opportunities. Stakeholder Coordination Serve as a liaison between internal departments including legal, finance, and project management teams. Facilitate effective communication to ensure smooth contract execution and alignment across functions. Support cross-functional collaboration to resolve issues and drive performance. Communication & Documentation Prepare clear, persuasive, and compliant written materials including proposals, reports, and contract documentation. Communicate complex legal and technical information in a clear and concise manner. Maintain accurate and organized contract records and documentation. Export Compliance Ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR), for applicable contracts. Review contract requirements and project scope to identify export‑controlled materials, data, or technologies. Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to obtain necessary licenses or approvals. Support the development and implementation of export compliance procedures, including handling controlled unclassified information (CUI). Provide guidance to internal teams to ensure proper handling, storage, and transmission of export‑controlled information. Demonstrated experience in contract administration and lifecycle management. Experience with export control regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Exceptional writing, editing, and research capabilities for proposal development. Ability to interpret complex legal, regulatory, and technical requirements. Proficiency with government contracting systems, tools, and databases. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong project management and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with compliance frameworks such as CMMC. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple contracts and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Strategic mindset with strong attention to both detail and big‑picture objectives. Educational/ Basic Skill Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business, law, public administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of experience in government contracting, procurement, or grant/proposal writing. Deep working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and agency‑specific acquisition procedures. Proven track record of successful proposal development and contract management. Experienced Contract Officer working with federal, state, or defense‑related agencies. Licenses and Certifications Valid driver’s license Federal Acquisition Certification for Contracting Officer’s Representatives (FAC-COR) and/or Government Contract Manager (CGCM) preferred. The employee may be required to work overtime in order to reach deadlines, and for special programs or company events Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but may require some work outside of these hours.
