A well established industrial equipment organization serving essential infrastructure and process industries is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to support customers throughout the United States. This position is responsible for commissioning, inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing engineered rotating equipment and related industrial systems.

The role is well suited for a field service professional who enjoys solving mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls problems in customer environments. The technician will serve as a trusted technical resource onsite, helping customers understand equipment condition, identify root causes of performance issues, and determine appropriate service solutions.

Professional Responsibility and Scope

The Field Service Technician will take ownership of service assignments from initial preparation through completion. Responsibilities include equipment startup and commissioning, preventive maintenance, mechanical inspection, repair, equipment disassembly and assembly, failure evaluation, and root cause diagnosis.

The position also involves working with industrial instrumentation, electrical and pneumatic connections, PLC based controls, and industrial communication networks. Technicians will interpret engineering drawings, process diagrams, control documentation, wiring information, and service procedures to complete assignments safely and accurately.

Customer interaction is an important part of the position. The technician will communicate service findings, explain repair recommendations, provide progress updates, identify future maintenance needs, and provide equipment training when appropriate. Detailed service documentation, repair findings, commissioning data, expense reporting, and other field documentation must be completed accurately and promptly.

The technician may also support engineering teams with equipment modifications, system design considerations, and operational safety reviews.

Location and Lifestyle Context

This is a United States based field service position involving more than 50 percent travel. Overnight travel may occasionally be required with limited notice depending on customer needs and service conditions.

The travel schedule is generally concentrated during the traditional workweek, with weekends typically spent at home when project requirements permit. Compensation

Experience and Qualification Summary

Qualified candidates should bring an associate degree in electronics technology, industrial technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. More than four years of field service and repair experience involving rotating equipment is strongly preferred.

Candidates should be comfortable troubleshooting mechanical equipment as well as industrial electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems. Experience interpreting process diagrams, control wiring, engineering drawings, and equipment documentation is important. Familiarity with PLC systems, ladder logic programming, industrial communication networks, and control system troubleshooting is highly desirable.

Strong planning, organization, documentation, customer communication, and analytical problem solving skills are essential. Experience with industrial fabrication or welding processes is beneficial but not required.

Candidates must be comfortable traveling more than 50 percent of the time and working independently at customer locations while maintaining established safety and quality standards.
