Job Title: Senior Healthcare Informatics Analyst

Location: Remote – Approved States Only

Contract Length: 6 Months

Position Overview

The Senior Healthcare Informatics Analyst independently provides analytics focused on understanding and improving how healthcare is valued, utilized, and provided.

This position focuses on healthcare claims analytics, medical cost drivers, healthcare utilization trends, and interpreting complex data to deliver actionable business insights.

The ideal candidate possesses advanced SQL skills, strong healthcare claims analytics experience, and the ability to independently investigate data, identify trends, explain findings, and recommend solutions.

This role requires strong business acumen and the ability to present analytical findings and recommendations to the Medical Cost Workgroup on a monthly basis.

The primary focus is understanding and explaining healthcare data rather than building ETL processes, dashboards, or AI models.

In collaboration with other business areas and IT, this position leads problem solving, solution development, strategic planning, and decision making.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, or Computer Science
\n
• Four years of related experience may be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
\n

Experience

\n
• 4 years of healthcare, analytics, IT, or management consulting experience
\n
• A Master’s degree may substitute for two years of the four years of required experience
\n
• A Doctorate degree may substitute for an additional two years of related work experience
\n
• Healthcare experience is required
\n
• Strong data analytics background
\n
• Advanced SQL skills
\n
• Experience working with medical claims data and healthcare claims analytics
\n
• Ability to analyze and interpret healthcare costs, utilization, and claims trends
\n
• Understanding of medical cost drivers and healthcare data
\n
• Experience building predictive models
\n
• Basic knowledge of the United States healthcare delivery system in a payer or provider setting
\n
• Strong knowledge of common query, analytic, and visualization tools such as SQL, SAS, R, Python, Tableau, etc.
\n

• Master’s degree in a related field

• Medicare Advantage experience
\n
• Trend analysis experience
\n
• Strong knowledge of outcome research design and controlled study design
\n
• Advanced knowledge of SAS, including Enterprise Miner
\n
• Strong understanding of provider payment methodologies, population health management, and risk adjustments
\n
• Strong understanding of clinical groupers, including DRG, APC, ETG, MEG, DxCg, and HCC
\n
• Strong understanding of quality metrics, including HEDIS and AHRQ
\n
• Knowledge of commercial risk optimization and MA risk optimization
\n

Key Responsibilities

\n
• Independently analyze healthcare claims, medical costs, and utilization data to identify trends, cost drivers, and opportunities for improvement.
\n
• Interpret complex data and translate findings into meaningful business insights and actionable recommendations.
\n
• Present analytical findings, trends, and recommendations to the Medical Cost Workgroup on a monthly basis.
\n
• Communicate complex healthcare analyses clearly to leadership, business stakeholders, and non-technical audiences.
\n
• Lead the selection of evaluation, analytics, and BI methodologies and communicate recommendations to facilitate problem solving, solution development, decision making, and strategic planning.
\n
• Leverage clinical reporting software and models, Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) data sources, and non-EDW data sources.
\n
• Facilitate business development, document business problems, and develop analytic solutions, including predictive models, BI solutions, and analytic attributes.
\n
• Serve as an analytics advisor to collaborating departments on corporate and cross-functional projects, reports, and activities.
\n
• Translate business rules into analytical models and serve as a liaison among healthcare analytics, Enterprise Information Management (EIM), IT, and business areas.
\n
• Perform peer data quality reviews and validate data and processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
\n
• Perform descriptive and analytic studies using advanced analytical and statistical techniques.
\n
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities.
