Role Overview

Join our Addison, IL team as an HMC Setup and Milling Specialist focused on precision production. In this second-shift, direct-hire position, you’ll own medium-to-complex setups, run horizontal machining centers, and produce components to exact customer specifications using optimized feeds, speeds, and multi-axis capability.

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (Overtime available)
• Pay: $25–$36 per hour + 10% shift differential
• Location: Addison, IL

A Day in the Life (Second Shift)

2:30 PM: You clock in, review your work order sequence, and pull the latest CNC programs, fixtures, and setup documentation. You verify tooling, build tool holders to specification, and configure the palletized HMC for the next run.

Early evening: You dial in fixtures, reference the blueprint and GD&T callouts, and set your offsets. You confirm rotary/indexing positions and validate four- and five-axis moves as needed.

Mid-shift: With machine controls at your fingertips, you adjust feeds/speeds for optimal cycle time, save updated programs and photos, and perform in-process inspection using micrometers, height gages, calipers, bore gages, inter-mics, thread gages, pin gages, comparators, and other standard metrology tools.

Late shift: You deburr, document results, clock operations in sequence, and partner with teammates to troubleshoot, share know-how, and drive continuous improvement and 5S. You leave the area clean, organized, and safe for the next day.

What You’ll Do

• Set up and operate horizontal machining centers; execute medium-to-complex setups with fixtures and tooling.
• Select, install, and qualify cutting tools and holders to meet print and process specs.
• Interpret blueprints/drawings, work orders, and related technical data; apply GD&T per ANSI standards.
• Use rotary and indexing capabilities across machine centers; leverage 4- and 5-axis machining expertise.
• Optimize processes with the machine control for efficiency and quality; save and manage program revisions and related documents.
• Perform light preventive maintenance when needed; keep a neat, safe work area.
• Inspect parts using approved methods; verify conformance to blueprint requirements.
• Deburr work-in-process to specifications.
• Coach operators and junior machinists; collaborate cross-functionally and professionally.
• Clock operations in order sequence and meet department targets on schedule.
• Support Lean, Continuous Improvement, and 5S initiatives.
• Work within ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003 quality systems; follow OSHA safety practices.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years of machining experience in production or job shop settings.
• Proficiency reading prints and work instructions; strong understanding of GD&T (ANSI).
• Hands-on experience with horizontal machining centers and pallet systems.
• Comfort with G-code and established machining practices.
• Solid communication skills; able to follow written and verbal directions and work from hand sketches.
• Four- and five-axis machining fluency; Mazak machining centers experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with manufacturing scheduling/shop control systems (e.g., Epicor) is a plus.

Preferred: Completion of a four-year apprenticeship or possession of a journeyman’s card.

Physical Demands

• Near vision and accommodation for reading gauges, prints, and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to recognize machine sound changes to diagnose and act appropriately.
• Frequent standing, walking, pushing, reaching overhead, and bending to the floor.
• Frequent sitting and manual dexterity to handle tools, parts, and controls.
• Occasional lifting/moving up to 50 lbs.
