SUMMARY:We are seeking a skilled Product Design Engineer with expertise in thermoforming and SolidWorks to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing thermoforming processes and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material properties, and manufacturing processes, including mold development.RESPONSIBILITIES:Design and develop thermoforming molds, tools, and equipment using SolidWorksCreate detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for manufacturingCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including Mold Shop, to ensure design feasibility and manufacturabilityConduct simulations and analyses to validate designs and optimize performanceTroubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during the manufacturing processStay updated with industry trends and advancements in thermoforming technologyEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulationsMeet with current and potential customersDevelop costing for new and existing productsCreate a safe work environmentAll other duties as requestedQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor 's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related fieldTwo years of thermoforming experience or other plastics preferredProven experience in mechanical design, specifically in thermoformingProficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and draftingStrong understanding of material properties and manufacturing processesExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentStrong communication skills, both written and verbalExperience with finite element analysis (FEA)Knowledge of thermoplastic materials and their behavior under different conditionsExperience with project management and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyFamiliarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to thermoformingProficiency in other CAD software and simulation toolsUnderstanding of lean manufacturing principles and practicesPrevious experience in a manufacturing environmentAbility to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actionsStrong organizational and time management skillsWORKING CONDITIONS:Able to work in a hot humid environment for extended periods of time as well as around loud noises are required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to work in an office environment.
