Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care hospital in California, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and an active CA RN license.

Details

• Work in a 266-bed acute care hospital's Labor & Delivery unit, which handles 200–300 births per month
• Unit includes 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor/high-risk rooms, and 3 triage rooms
• Patient population includes high-risk pregnancies, antepartum care, vaginal deliveries, and C-sections
• Procedures include fetal heart monitoring, high-risk pregnancy monitoring, C-section circulating and scrubbing, vaginal delivery assistance, and sterile vaginal exams
• Floating to postpartum (couplet care — newborn and maternal) may be required when census demands
• Newborn role in delivery is frequently performed; additional skills in postpartum couplet care are a plus
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Charting via Epic (required)
• Community hospital experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred

Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, and either AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring or NCC EFM (acceptable in lieu of AWHONN); FHM also required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Proficiency in L&D management, vaginal delivery assistance, and C-section circulating; C-section scrubbing preferred
• Must disclose any license or background hits upfront
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty are required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• A valid LA fire card obtained within the last 30 days is required

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must commit to working 3 of the 5 designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local; local candidates are accepted
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Prior work history at any Providence facility (permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem) must be disclosed, including location and dates
• Travelers may be expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
• RNs wear navy blue scrubs; L&D scrubs are provided by the facility
• Block scheduling is available at manager's discretion
