If you are unable to complete this application due to a disability, contact this employer to ask for an accommodation or an alternative application process. Clinical Informatics Senior Manager - RN Full Time Technical, Houston, TX, US Position Summary The Senior Manager, Clinical Informatics is the operational leader for Clinical IT initiatives at Nexus Health Systems. This role owns the end‑to‑end project management function for all Clinical Technology Governance Board (CTGB) governed clinical informatics projects, currently spanning approximately 30 active initiatives at varying stages of execution. The position is governed operationally by the CTGB and reports administratively to the Director of IT Operations. Clinical IT initiatives are governed by the CTGB, a clinically led body that prioritizes, approves, and oversees all major clinical informatics projects. The Senior Manager is the primary IT partner to CTGB, owning portfolio‑wide project execution, structured status reporting, and the operational pipeline that turns approved initiatives into delivered outcomes. Approximately 85% of the EMR Applications portfolio is clinical in nature, with the remaining 15% supporting Central Business Office (CBO) revenue cycle functions. The ideal candidate brings the rare combination of registered nursing experience, formal project management discipline (PMP), full‑lifecycle EMR implementation expertise, and working knowledge of EMR‑driven revenue cycle operations. This is a highly visible, onsite leadership role. The Senior Manager represents Corporate IT in clinical governance forums, delivers boardroom‑level reporting to the Nexus Health Systems leadership team, and serves as a trusted partner to facility clinical leadership, operational stakeholders, and implementation vendors. Job‑Specific Responsibilities Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision, and Values of Nexus Health Systems. Upholds the standards of conduct and corporate compliance. Demonstrates honest behavior in all matters and complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations. Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information in accordance with HIPAA. Collaborates effectively with colleagues and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery. Owns the end‑to‑end project management function for all CTGB‑governed clinical informatics initiatives, tracking project health, milestone status, dependencies, and risks across the portfolio. Delivers structured portfolio reporting at every CTGB meeting, including health indicators, decisions required, escalations, and milestone progression. Translates portfolio‑level data into board‑ready summaries appropriate for the Nexus Health Systems leadership team and executive forums. Applies PMP methodology consistently across the portfolio, including charters, workplans, risk registers, readiness checklists, and structured stakeholder communication. Tracks benefits realization and return on investment for clinical informatics investments and presents findings to IT leadership and CTGB. Standardizes project management methodology and governance practice across the clinical informatics portfolio in alignment with the IT PMO. Primarily office‑based work at the Nexus Health Systems Corporate campus in Houston, Texas, with regular travel to Nexus facilities in Dallas, San Antonio, Shenandoah, Woodlands, and Conroe (estimated 20–30% during active project windows). Partners with Clinical IT operations and helpdesk leadership to triage incoming clinical IT requests, ensuring tickets are appropriately routed between break/fix resolution and CTGB‑governed project intake. Owns the criteria, documentation, and decision support that enable CTGB to evaluate and prioritize candidate initiatives. Develops and refines the intake‑to‑charter pipeline that converts approved CTGB requests into structured projects with defined scope, resources, and timelines. Serves as subject matter expert on clinical operations, translating care delivery workflows into system requirements, project scope, and configuration decisions. Oversees the strategic planning, deployment, governance, and optimization of clinical information systems, including the EMR, clinical decision support tools, and ancillary clinical applications. Assesses current‑state clinical processes and develops evidence‑based recommendations for technology‑enabled future‑state improvements. Oversees system configuration, testing, training coordination, go‑live readiness, and post‑go‑live optimization for all clinical IT implementations. Oversees the optimization and governance of EMR‑driven revenue cycle functions in partnership with the Central Business Office, ensuring configuration changes, payer updates, and charge capture workflows are properly evaluated, tested, and documented. Ensures all clinical technology initiatives comply with applicable regulatory standards, including HIPAA, HITECH, Joint Commission, and state licensure requirements. Monitors clinical quality and compliance indicators related to informatics systems and drives corrective actions as needed. Serves as the operational owner of the EMR vendor relationship, including statement of work review, change order governance, milestone acceptance, and escalation management. Leads vendor coordination for the planned EMR replacement initiative, working in partnership with the Director of IT Operations and the CIO. Partners with IT Operations leadership and legal counsel for contract‑level matters, in accordance with the Nexus Health Systems dual‑signature contract authority model. Owns the development, version control, and committee approval of clinical informatics policies and procedures, including standards for AI‑assisted documentation, access provisioning for non‑licensed clinical roles, and EMR change control. Coordinates governance activities including agenda preparation, project tracking, committee follow‑ups, and decision documentation for CTGB and related forums. Develops and maintains governance artifacts including clinical operations playbooks, guidance documents, briefing materials, and decision paper packages. Represents Corporate IT in clinical committee meetings, interdisciplinary workgroups, and cross‑functional governance forums. Facilitates knowledge transfer to clinical stakeholders and IT team members to promote process consistency and organizational capability. Partners with Advanced Practice Providers, facility Chief Clinical Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, Directors of Quality, therapy leaders, and operations leaders to translate clinical priorities into system requirements, configuration decisions, and provider‑facing workflow design. Facilitates requirements gathering sessions, workflow observations, and user acceptance testing with clinical end users. Creates compelling, executive‑ready presentations and informational materials for leadership committees, the Nexus Health Systems Board, and CTGB. Communicates technology changes and project updates clearly to non‑technical clinical audiences. Serves as the primary liaison between clinical stakeholders, Corporate IT leadership, and implementation vendor partners. Provides direct leadership, coaching, and active mentorship to the EMR Applications Manager, with a focus on management practice development, delegation frameworks, and team accountability. Partners with the EMR Applications Manager to drive the team’s build, configuration, and optimization work across both clinical and revenue cycle domains. Sets clear performance expectations for direct and indirect reports and supports regular one‑on‑ones, mid‑year check‑ins, and annual performance evaluations. Partners with team members on professional development and career growth. Fosters a culture of clinical empathy, accountability, continuous improvement, and collaborative problem‑solving. Demonstrates commitment to patient‑centered service by treating all patients and families with respect, dignity, and professionalism. Identifies and escalates patient concerns, complaints, or barriers to care through established organizational processes. Supports a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment while adhering to patient rights, confidentiality, and privacy standards. Ensures all activities adhere to healthcare regulations and organizational policies. Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery. Promotes a culture of patient safety which results in the identification and reduction of unsafe practices. Completes annual education requirements. Maintains competency, as evidenced by completion of competency validation requirements. Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments. Participates in relevant workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses to stay current with industry trends, healthcare regulations, and best practices. Promotes stewardship of hospital resources while ensuring quality patient care. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Qualifications Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred. Experience Minimum 5 years of direct patient care experience.
