Job Details Title: Diesel, Truck & Heavy Equipment Mechanic Salary: $25 - $32 per hour Employer: Sunshine Pennington (via Jobot) Employment Type: Permanent About the Role We’re hiring experienced mechanics to join a busy, well‑equipped service shop supporting a wide range of diesel vehicles and heavy equipment. This hands‑on role offers variety, working on trucks, yard equipment, forklifts, trailers, and some construction equipment. You’ll be part of a skilled team that values quality work, safety, and reliability, and this is a solid opportunity for mechanics looking for steady work and long‑term stability. Key Responsibilities Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing various types of heavy‑duty machinery and equipment, including diesel engines, trucks, and construction equipment. Performing preventative maintenance on equipment to prevent future breakdowns and failures. Conducting diagnostic tests on diesel engines and other machinery to identify mechanical problems and determine the best solutions. Repairing or replacing defective parts within the hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Performing repairs on brake systems, transmission systems, cooling systems, and fuel systems. Utilising welding (MIG, Stick) and fabrication skills for mechanical repairs. Adhering to OEM standards and OSHA regulations, including Lockout‑Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Maintaining accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles and equipment. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Diesel Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Equipment Technician, Fleet Mechanic, Truck Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Industrial Mechanic, Maintenance Mechanic, or Shop Mechanic. Proficiency with Freightliner, Yard Truck, Yard Hustler, Jockey Truck, Terminal Equipment, Forklifts, Reach Stacker, Container Handler, Chassis & Trailers, and Construction Equipment. Proven experience repairing Diesel Engines, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems, Brake Systems, Transmission Repair, Cooling Systems, and Fuel Systems. Skills in Welding (MIG, Stick), Fabrication, Mechanical Repair, and Electrical Repair. Experience with Hyster, LPG Forklifts, Electric Forklift, Diesel Forklift, and Material Handling Equipment. Knowledge of OEM Standards, Lockout‑Tagout, and OSHA regulations. Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
