Financial Counseling Representative I

Financial Counseling Representative R1 is looking for a Financial Counseling Representative to counsel uninsured and under‑insured patients to obtain a paying funding source for their medical services. The role involves accurately and compassionately explaining financial options and obligations during counseling sessions, building trust, and guiding patients through Medicaid and other funding programs. Job Responsibilities Provide financial counseling to uninsured and under‑insured patients. Explain financial options, obligations, and coverage enrollment information. Assist patients with applications for Medicaid and other funding programs. Maintain accurate, compassionate communication with patients. Comply with infection control requirements (vaccinations, drug test, background check). Operate in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple systems and tasks concurrently. Key Expectations Help patients reduce financial burdens related to medical care. Be mobile throughout the day and able to move between work areas. Follow training and leadership support to gain expertise in the role. Contribute to professional growth through available training and career development programs. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Excellent customer service and compassionate communication skills. Ability to multitask and navigate multiple systems. Preferred: prior financial counseling experience, knowledge of medical terminology, state and federal assistance programs, or healthcare background. Workplace Requirements In‑person role at a hospital; vaccinations may be required. Must pass a drug test and background check. Physical ability to remain mobile throughout the day. Compensation Base pay range: $18.59 – $25.44 per hour, with pay determined by role, level, location, job‑related skills, experience, and education.
