Job Description

Job Description

Jo Title: MEP Mechanical Project Manager

Location: Deerfield Beach, FL
Job Type: Full-Time
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Primarily In-Office with 1–2 Remote Days per Week)

About the Company

Our client is an established MEP engineering consulting firm specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) design, build, and commissioning services. Founded in 1983, they have built a strong reputation throughout South Florida by delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects.

As the firm continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced MEP Mechanical Project Manager to join their team in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who enjoys both project management and hands-on design work. The ideal candidate will serve as both a technical leader and project manager, overseeing projects from initial design through construction administration while coordinating with internal disciplines and external stakeholders.

This is not a pure project management role. Successful candidates must have strong HVAC and mechanical design experience and be comfortable managing projects while actively contributing to the engineering design process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage MEP projects from concept through construction administration
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders
• Lead project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverable management
• Design and review HVAC and mechanical building systems for a variety of project types
• Coordinate with Electrical and Plumbing teams to ensure project success across all disciplines
• Oversee production of construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD
• Conduct engineering calculations, equipment selections, and system sizing
• Review RFIs, submittals, permitting comments, and construction documentation
• Participate in site visits, field observations, and construction coordination meetings
• Ensure projects meet applicable building codes, standards, and client requirements
• Mentor junior designers and collaborate with drafters and multidisciplinary project teams
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, and overall project performance

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of MEP consulting experience
• Strong background in Mechanical/HVAC building systems design
• Previous experience managing engineering projects from design through completion
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
• Experience with commercial, multifamily residential, institutional, mixed-use, or industrial projects
• Strong understanding of building systems, engineering design principles, and construction documentation
• Excellent communication, client-facing, and project coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) License or actively pursuing licensure
• Florida PE License preferred (or ability to obtain through reciprocity)
• Experience working in a design-build environment
• Knowledge of Florida Building Codes and applicable industry standards
• Experience with BIM workflows and multidisciplinary project coordination

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is someone who has spent their career within the MEP consulting industry and understands both the technical and project management aspects of engineering projects.

They should be comfortable owning projects, coordinating multiple disciplines, communicating directly with clients, and making sound engineering decisions based on practical design experience.

This individual should thrive in an environment where they will work on a wide variety of project types rather than being limited to a single market sector.

Why Join?

• Exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple sectors
• Collaborative and flexible work environment
• Hybrid work schedule available
• Direct access to leadership and decision-makers
• Long-term career growth opportunities
• Performance-based bonuses and salary increases
• Established firm with strong employee retention and many tenured team members
• Opportunity to work on projects from design through construction
