CNC Machinist

Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC mills, or multi-axis machinesInterpret blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T, and technical specificationsLoad and edit CNC programs using G-code and CAM softwareSelect tooling, fixtures, feeds, and speeds for optimal machining performancePerform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checksTroubleshoot machine, tooling, and production issues to minimize downtimeMaintain tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishesMonitor production runs and adjust machine offsets as neededTrain and mentor junior machinists and machine operatorsCollaborate with engineering and quality teams on process improvementsPerform preventive maintenance and maintain clean, safe work areasEnsure compliance with OSHA and company safety standardsDocument setups, inspections, and production data accuratelyEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED; technical/trade school required.7+ years of CNC machining experienceAdvanced experience with CNC mills.SkillsStrong understanding of G-code, tooling, and machining principlesAbility to read blueprints and understand GD&TExperience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and CMM equipmentStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityExperience with multi-axis machiningLean manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledgeWorking ConditionsWork is performed in a manufacturing or machine shop environmentExposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, coolants, and lubricantsRequired use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, and glovesFrequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shiftWork may involve tight production deadlines and fast-paced operationsOvertime, weekend, or shift work may be required based on production schedulesStrict adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies is requiredCollaboration with machinists, programmers, engineers, maintenance personnel, and quality inspectors is expectedPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsManual dexterity and visual acuity for precision workComfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise and moving machinerySafety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
