Position Summary

The 1:1 Developmental Specialist provides individualized support to adults with developmental and related disabilities within a skilled nursing facility setting. Responsibilities include implementing Day Habilitation Service Plan (DHSP) goals, supporting daily living and community-based activities, documenting progress, and promoting each individual’s independence, safety, dignity, and well-being.

Reports To

Program Manager – Habilitation Services

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and support DHSP goals and therapeutic activities.
• Assist individuals with communication, socialization, community participation, and skill development.
• Provide support with mobility, hygiene, behavioral interventions, and daily activities as needed.
• Maintain accurate daily documentation, progress notes, incident reports, and data collection.
• Collaborate with nursing facility staff, therapists, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and person-centered environment using Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS).
• Transport individuals to approved community-based activities when assigned.
• Follow all agency policies, facility procedures, and confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work professionally in a healthcare or nursing facility environment.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
• Successful background check required.
• Bilingual Portuguese skills are a plus.

Pay Rate: $19-$23 per hour
