Looking for an experienced Special Education Teacher ready to make a difference in an elementary school setting near Sterling Heights, MI. Contract positions are available for both ASD and Therapeutic Classroom programs, each offering robust support and a collaborative atmosphere. With multidisciplinary resources and dedicated paraprofessional assistance, you’ll be able to focus on meeting the unique needs of your students while feeling supported every step of the way.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher Certification required
- Previous experience with ASD population preferred for ASD program
- Experience with behavioral and therapeutic elementary populations preferred for Therapeutic Classroom
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment focused on student growth and well-being
- Commitment to providing individualized, compassionate support to students
Responsibilities:
- Manage an elementary-level caseload within either an ASD or Therapeutic classroom
- Collaborate closely with three assigned paraprofessionals as well as speech therapists, social workers, occupational therapists, and physical therapists
- Foster a positive, structured classroom environment tailored to the needs of each student
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary staff to support student progress
- No toileting or lifting duties are required
