Job Summary
The Dining Services Shift Supervisor oversees daily food service operations during assigned shifts, ensuring meals are prepared and served on time while maintaining high standards of sanitation, safety, and customer service. This role supervises kitchen and dining staff, coordinates workflow, and supports a positive dining experience for residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities
Supervise dining services staff during assigned shifts and ensure employees are present, in uniform, and following department standards.
Monitor meal preparation and service to ensure food is served promptly and according to schedule.
Review staffing schedules, identify coverage needs, and communicate concerns to management.
Coordinate catering and special meal events to ensure timely and organized service.
Maintain sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
Conduct sanitation checks and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Report equipment maintenance issues and safety concerns to management.
Assist with employee training, orientation, and performance support.
Handle initial employee disciplinary matters in the absence of the Dining Services Manager.
Complete assigned clerical and administrative tasks and maintain clear communication with management and other supervisors.
Promote a professional, customer-focused environment that supports resident satisfaction and teamwork.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must pass background check
Experience in quantity food production, kitchen operations, or food service management.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a food service environment.
Knowledge of sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards.
Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Ability to make prompt decisions, delegate tasks, and work effectively under pressure.

Preferred Skills
Experience in healthcare, retirement community, or hospitality dining services.
Customer service and team leadership experience.
Basic clerical and scheduling skills.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull food service supplies and equipment.
Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and perform repetitive motions as needed.

Work Environment
This position works in a commercial kitchen and dining setting with exposure to food service equipment, cleaning chemicals, heat, cold, and busy meal-service periods. Strict adherence to sanitation and safety procedures is required.
