About the Role The Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanic plays a critical role in the fabrication and installation of sheet metal systems used in commercial buildings. This position requires expertise in interpreting blueprints, measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal components to ensure structural integrity and compliance with safety standards. The mechanic will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other tradespeople to deliver high-quality workmanship on time and within budget. Attention to detail and adherence to industry codes and regulations are essential to guarantee the durability and functionality of HVAC ductwork, roofing, siding, and other sheet metal applications. Ultimately, this role contributes to the successful completion of commercial construction and renovation projects by providing skilled mechanical solutions that meet client specifications and operational requirements. Minimum Qualifications Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Proven experience working with sheet metal tools and machinery in a commercial setting. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices related to sheet metal work. Preferred Qualifications Experience with HVAC duct fabrication and installation. Familiarity with welding and soldering techniques. Ability to operate computerized sheet metal fabrication equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements and layout. Measure, cut, bend, and assemble sheet metal components using hand tools, power tools, and machinery. Install sheet metal products such as ductwork, roofing, siding, and flashing in commercial buildings. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing sheet metal systems to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate work schedules and ensure compliance with safety standards. Inspect completed work for quality assurance and adherence to project specifications. Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and time spent on each project. Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
