CustodianFounded by the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1948, Stonehill is a private Catholic college located just 22 miles from downtown Boston on a beautiful 384-acre campus in Easton, Massachusetts. In fulfillment of its motto, Lux et Spes ("Light and Hope"), the College cultivates in its students the competence to think, act, and lead with courage towards creating a more just and compassionate world.ResponsibilitiesSweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors, stairways, and common areas of dormitories, townhouses, office buildings, and other campus facilities.Empties trash buckets, ashtrays, and/or refuse containers.Cleans washrooms, bathrooms, showers, and related fixtures.Cleans surfaces (e.g., walls, windows, ceilings, floors, tiles, stairs, entranceways, doors, etc.) using cleaning agents and/or equipment.Assists in receiving and moving packages, luggage, and/or supplies when requested.Moves furniture and equipment as directed.Assists in maintaining security and protecting premises by: 1) Opening and locking rooms and exterior doors for routine and special purposes. 2) Challenging persons unknown to him/her. 3) Securing windows, locks, and doors.Reports defective plumbing, heating, and electrical fixtures to the head custodian and/or Facilities Management Office.Reports conditions of cleaning equipment and supplies, and/or any defective items in the cleaning area to the Supervisor or Facilities Management.Works as directed to conserve electricity, power, and water.Observes safety rules and regulations at all times.Keeps exterior stairs, sidewalks, platforms, and loading docks clean of snow and/or other debris.Maintains waste pick-up areas in clean, orderly condition and cleans waste receptacles as necessary.Delivers trash to a central dumpster or collects it in bulk for pick-up at a designated area.Performs any other duties normally within the scope of a custodian's duties and as indicated or dictated by special characteristics of the building currently assigned.Willingness to work overtime.Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.Must be able to interrelate with fellow employees as needed to get the job done.Must treat fellow employees, students, and visitors to the college with respect.Performs other duties as assigned.Typical QualificationsA High School Diploma or GED is required along with a valid driver's license.BenefitsStonehill College offers a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, based on position, which includes:Medical, prescription drug, vision, and dental coveragePaid vacation, holidays, and various leave programsCompetitive retirement benefits, including defined contribution plans and voluntary tax-deferred savings optionsEmployee and dependent educational benefitsLife insurance coverageEmployee discount programsVoluntary benefitsFor detailed information on benefits and eligibility, please visit here for more information.
