This is a full-time, grant-funded fiscal year position primarily located in the Dyer County area. Colleges & Universities The successful candidate will teach, advise, and manage the Culinary Arts program while preparing students for culinary careers through engaging, industry-relevant instruction. Key Duties And Responsibilities Teach 30 instructional hours (TLE) per academic year in Culinary Arts or related fields. Serve as Program Advisor and Director for DSCC's Culinary Arts program. Instruct diverse student groups, including dual-enrollment high school students and adult learners. Jobs Recruit and engage prospective students from area high schools and the community. Deliver courses in various formats - in-person, online, hybrid, or off-campus - including evening or weekend classes as needed (personal vehicle required). Apply learning-centered, research-based teaching methods, including service-learning and cooperative learning strategies. Develop and manage web-enhanced and technology-supported courses following accessibility standards. Use DSCC’s course management system for all instructional activities. Cooking & Recipes Collaborate with faculty to assess and improve course effectiveness. Participate in professional development and maintain membership in relevant professional associations. Mentor adjunct instructors and assist with curriculum revision and textbook selection. Advise students, maintain office hours, and actively participate in college committees. Assist in grant writing and program management. Communicate promptly with students and colleagues (response expected within 72 hours). Obtain Master Advisor certification and demonstrate readiness to teach in a correctional facility, if required. Teaching & Classroom Resources Working Conditions Primarily office and classroom settings; minimal exposure to hazards. Education Occasional travel required for program and college activities. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Minimum Qualifications Strong oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications. Ability to teach, assess, and mentor students effectively. Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution, or Associate degree with demonstrated professional culinary competencies. Colleges & Universities Relevant culinary industry experience. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution. College-level teaching experience. Experience using Zoom and Microsoft Teams for instruction.
