Provider Type: Physician - Hematology/Oncology - Staff Position

Practice Location: Our organization operates at the following sites:

• Albany - 315 South Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208
• Troy - 2215 Burdett Ave, Troy, NY 12180
• Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; closed on weekends.

Our organization is affiliated with a leading cancer center in Buffalo, NY. The hematology/oncology program will employ the physicians.

• Physicians typically see 15-18 patients daily (with the option to see more if desired).
• Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) manage around 10-12 patients each day.
• Physicians do not have patient responsibilities while rounding at the hospital.
• Average daily hospital census ranges from 20-30 patients.
• Office schedules and call responsibilities are designed to be manageable and equitable.

Average Clinic Volumes:

• Albany Clinic: 50-80 patients daily; Infusion visits: approximately 30-38 patients daily.
• Troy Clinic: 40 patients daily; Infusion visits: 15-20 patients daily.
• Nurses, APPs, and physicians are involved in administering antineoplastic agents.
• MDs and APPs also provide intrathecal, intralesion, and intracavity treatments.
• Interventional Radiology primarily conducts bone marrow and FNA biopsies.
• Nurses oversee VAD catheter management.
• Intrapleural therapies are delivered in an inpatient setting.
• Collaborative clinical trials are being pursued with the cancer center.
• The oncology service line consists of approximately 80% oncology and 20% benign hematology.
• The service line is transitioning to a 1:1 MD to APP model.

• Patients come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
• Age range includes geriatric to young adult (no pediatric patients).
• High patient volumes for pancreatic, breast, colon, and urology cancers.
• Lower volumes for melanoma and renal cancers.
• Physicians have access to various specialties within the organization (Thoracic, GI, H&N, GU).
• The GI group operates privately but collaborates effectively with the oncology service line.
• The oncology service line does not manage acute leukemias or currently have a BMT/TCT program.

Support Staff

• The nursing team achieved Magnet designation in 2022.
• Each physician is assigned a Primary Nurse for triage calls and administrative tasks.
• Dedicated nurses are available in both Albany and Troy clinics to assist with patient management.

Pharmacy Support: Four full-time pharmacists are available to assist with chemotherapy-related inquiries and are very approachable.

• Inpatient consult/call responsibility follows a 1:5 schedule.
• Future goal is to achieve a 1:7 call schedule.
• Hospitalists handle patient admissions, while dedicated inpatient APPs manage ongoing care.
• After-hours call responsibility occurs Monday to Thursday every five weeks.
• Weekend call responsibility is scheduled for Friday to Sunday every five weeks.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: EPIC.

Specialized tumor boards are available for GU, GI, Breast, Thoracic, and General oncology.

Virtual access to subspecialized tumor boards from the cancer center is also provided.

• Candidates must possess Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Medical Oncology and Hematology, or be in the process of obtaining it.
• A commitment to patient-centered care and a desire to work collaboratively within a team are essential.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills alongside strong clinical abilities are required.
• A motivated and enthusiastic approach to delivering optimal patient care and outcomes is expected.

Our organization offers a comprehensive salary and benefits package, which includes:

• Annual Salary: $550,000 - $600,000 for the first two years, plus a WRVU productivity model.
• Annual Salary: $650,000 for years three to five.
• The stated salary reflects the starting range of total compensation and does not include productivity bonuses, quality and performance incentives, extra shift bonuses, or other applicable cash compensation. Additionally, providers typically receive a CME allowance and other benefits from their medical group employer. This salary range is provided in accordance with state law and may vary based on the factors mentioned.
• Quality Bonus: available.
• CME Allowance: $5,000.
• Signing Bonus: available.

• 5-year contract with a stable/guaranteed base salary.
