Health Actuarial Analyst
Health analytics and actuarial data crossover. Closer to a data-science crossover than a reserving cycle role because required programming and predictive modeling sit alongside actuarial reporting.
Entry-level Health actuarial analyst role in Newark, New Jersey, supporting medical cost evaluations across multiple lines of business. You'll analyze claims and utilization data, assist with forecasting, predictive modeling, IBNR monitoring, and actuarial reporting while partnering with internal stakeholders. The role requires at least one SOA exam and experience with Excel plus SAS, SQL, R, Python, or similar tools.
Requirements:
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 0-2 years of actuarial, statistical, healthcare analytics or related experience required
- At least one SOA actuarial exam passed
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with SAS, SQL, R, Python or similar programming and data analysis tools
Strongly preferred:
- Progress toward ASA designation
- Familiarity with Microsoft Access
- Basic understanding of actuarial concepts, statistical analysis, and healthcare data
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of medical claims, healthcare utilization, and medical terminology
- Master's degree
Skills & Domain: Tools Excel Access
