Description: 12-hour shifts available for nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other weekend is required. Floating to other units may be required based on need. Patient population primarily includes adults. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1. Standard scrub color is navy blue.

Common skills and responsibilities include: Ventilator management. Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips. IV sedation. Neuromuscular blockade. Arterial lines management. Central lines management. PICC lines management. Blood product administration. Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). Dysrhythmia interpretation. 12-lead EKG interpretation. Hypothermia protocol. Stroke and neuro care. BiPAP/CPAP management. High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management. Arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis. Wound vac management. Adherence to isolation precautions and infection prevention protocols.

Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. Common patient diagnoses include multisystem organ failure, respiratory failure, liver failure, sepsis, and post-cardiac arrest. Special procedures may include continuous glucose monitoring for hyperglycemia and externalized IV pumps for COVID-19 patients. Essential equipment includes NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV pump, GE cardiac monitor, and GE ventilator.
