Food Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Job Overview We’re looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone’s journeys better. The position is responsible for supervising employees to ensure security, safety, food specifications, quality assurance of products, sanitation, HACCP and FDA regulations are followed, and for controlling labor and food costs in accordance with company specifications. Location & Salary Salary: $65,000–$70,000. Location: 30 Inip Dr, Inwood, NY 11096. Maintains company policies, procedures and specification books for airline customers and serves as a knowledgeable resource relative to those policies. Controls food costs and other controllable costs. Works with management staff to improve unit performance. Prepares management reports (attendance, HACCP, labor) as required. Ensures safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements and company policies. Ensures specifications, airline diagrams and other standards are accurate per airline specifications. Ensures all products are coded according to Gate Gourmet procedures. Conducts inventory of Gate Gourmet products and customer materials to ensure proper usage and minimization of waste. Completes requisitions for the storeroom to maintain adequate supply. Maintains daily temperature logs and other required logs and reports. Works with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and reports maintenance and repair issues timely. Performs performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and prepares corrective action for employees and liaises with HR. Balances work flow and determines staffing needs per shift, including scheduling for sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves and volume changes. Ensures compliance with the company Wage & Hour policy, including rest and meal breaks. Trains and monitors employees on proper procedures to maximize productivity while minimizing labor and food expenses. Monitors daily manpower planning and schedules employees. Focused on employee retention and reducing turnover. Prepares and implements corrective actions in compliance with union/collective bargaining agreements. Reviews and ensures employees in the chain of command are in correct cost centers and job titles. Ensures union‑represented employees’ pay rates are accurate based on wage scales and seniority. Requires all employees to complete all company training, including ServSafe and other required policies. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a high‑volume manufacturing, food production, restaurant or catering environment. Technical Skills: Strong leadership, ability to manage a staff of 30+ hourly employees, ability to provide constructive feedback, excellent time management, strong organizational, analytical and communication skills, innovative mindset. Must obtain ServSafe Certification (preferred). Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Language/Communication: Clearly communicates in English; bilingual in English plus Spanish, Chinese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Hindi or Polish is a plus.
