Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Take on a fulfilling role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic elementary setting. This contract position, available from July 17 through June 2, focuses on an extended resource/self-contained classroom serving K4-5th grade students. You’ll collaborate with a passionate team, joining two other special education professionals—one specializing in co- teaching/inclusion/resource, and another focusing on K5 transition. Your classroom will serve approximately 8-12 students, working alongside a dedicated classroom assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction to students in a self-contained/extended resource setting, tailoring interventions in ELA and math to individual needs.
- Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), setting measurable objectives.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student growth and engagement.
- Coordinate with fellow special education teachers to ensure consistency in curriculum, supports, and transitions across resources and grade levels.
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents, staff, and specialists regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Utilize adaptive teaching strategies and positive behavior supports to promote student independence.
- Supervise, mentor, and collaborate closely with the classroom assistant.
- Maintain up-to-date records and complete all required documentation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification or relevant credentials.
- Previous experience teaching students with diverse learning needs, ideally in an elementary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Adaptability in working with a wide range of student needs and grade levels.
