Business Unit Leader (Production Manager)

Job Description Job Description Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations of multiple snack food production lines, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety. Coordinate production schedules to meet customer demand while minimizing downtime and optimizing resource utilization. Ensure production targets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and budget objectives are met or exceeded. Leads by example of professionalism and integrity and promotes positive morale and open communication. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 12 supervisors and approximately 200 hourly employees, fostering a high-performance culture and encouraging collaboration and empowerment. Implement a focus of accountability and performance results ownership. Oversee recruitment, training, and development of production staff to enhance skills, ensure competency and support career growth. Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement disciplinary measures as needed. Manage and resolve employee relations issues leveraging Human Resources support when needed Process Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement strategies to optimize production processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency. Analyze production data and trends, identifying opportunities for improvements in quality, cost, safety, schedule attainment, and throughput. Embraces and supports engineering changes to improve capacity and performance. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all production activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FDA). Promote a culture of safety, conducting regular safety audits and training programs to minimize accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Quality Control: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all products meet or exceed customer and regulatory standards. Address any quality issues in a timely manner, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Ensure the plant remains in audit-ready condition at all times. Resource Management: Ensure schedule attainment is achieved to support on-time and in-full service to our customers Work collaboratively with the Demand Planning team to ensure raw and packaging materials are available to meet production needs. Work collaboratively with the Production Scheduler to optimize the schedule to maximize operational efficiency, reduce food safety risks, and customer service Develop, monitor, and manage production budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of labor, materials, supplies, services, and equipment. Equipment and Maintenance: Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and functions efficiently. Implement Autonomous Maintenance programs to minimize downtime, avoid unexpected equipment failures, ensure equipment is maintained and operating properly.
