Position Summary The University of Oregon is accepting applications for the position of Sports Dietitian within the University of Oregon Athletics Department. Under the general supervision of the Director of Performance, the Sports Dietitian will assist in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation and management of the performance nutrition services provided to University of Oregon student-athletes. Primary Responsibilities Include Deliver individual nutrition assessment and education/counselling, as well as team and department education to enhance the performance and wellbeing of collegiate student athletes. Perform and interpret results of various nutrition-related assessments, including but not limited to; hydration, laboratory results, and body composition (DXA) assessments. Oversee management and operations of athlete fueling station(s), including product inventory, ordering, receiving, unloading, and distribution. Oversee a volunteer staff of work study students and/or nutrition interns. Coordinate nutritional care as a member of a multidisciplinary sports performance team, collaborating with athletic trainers, physicians, strength and conditioning staff, coaching staff, psychologists and other department personnel. Coordinating the performance fueling program with travel and operations, with input on travel snacks, hydration, and meal suggestions. Possess ability to adhere to and comply with Department, University, NCAA and Big 10 rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Performance and/or Senior Sports Nutrition staff. Minimum Qualifications Registered Dietitian (RD) and ability to obtain state licensure within 3 months of the date of hire. Bachelor’s degree in dietetics/nutrition or related field. One year of experience of providing performance nutrition support to recreational, collegiate, professional or elite level athletes, including internship/volunteer experience. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in nutrition, exercise physiology or related field. One year of full-time experience in a collegiate sports nutrition setting. Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Professional Competencies Skills in providing nutrition education/counselling for individual patients with a spectrum of nutrition concerns utilizing specialized knowledge unique to the sports medicine discipline. Ability to document encounters in athlete management program. Skills at managing shifting priorities and changing pace of workload. Skill at working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, colleagues, professionals, and administration.
