We are industry-leading experts, and we work hard to encourage a collaborative and team-oriented environment.A Day in the Life of a Project EngineerIf you are on the civil design track, you'll be part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation in order to fulfill production work on your projects. You will manage tasks on projects from concept development, design review, bid package development, permitting, and construction management. You will help develop construction documents; and work with your team to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.If you're on the transportation design track, you'll assist in the creation of signing and pavement marking plans, maintenance of traffic, and traffic signal plans for roadway projects and streetscapes in urban settings. You will use programs such as Synchro, Highway Capacity Software, MicroStation, and AutoCAD to fulfill production work on your projects. You'll use state of the art tools and practices to help create sustainable multimodal transportation networks. You'll also have the opportunity to work on a wide spectrum of projects that inform your design work, including road diet analyses, multimodal traffic studies for new development, roundabout studies, trail/roadway intersection studies and designs, and parking studies and design guidance. Qualifications of a Project Engineer:Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineeringProfessional Engineering license preferred5+ years of experienceA growing knowledge base in civil engineering (transportation focus) Gaining understanding of basic geometric design principles of roadways and industry roadway design standardsProficiency in one or more of the following: MicroStation (including InRoads and/or OpenRoads), AutoCAD (including Civil 3D)Experience coordinating utility, right-of-way, street lighting, traffic signals, and landscape and hardscape layoutExperience developing construction documents and cost estimatesInterest in multimodal and active transportation designYou'll be great here if:You have strong leadership skills and enjoy participating in multi-disciplinary teamsYou are passionate about sustainability and the opportunity to work on challenging multimodal projects that make communities more livableYou enjoy producing high-quality work products and seeing your projects get builtYou have strong communication skills, whether written, verbal, or graphicalYou can build relationships, bring enthusiasm to exciting projects, and are detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills Work Schedule for a Project EngineerThis full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home up to 2 days per week.
