After School Program Assistant Teacher

Position Summary The Impact Assistant Teacher will assist in the planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities for programs. This position requires availability, Monday through Thursday from 2:00 - 6:30 PM. Essential Functions Assists Site Coordinator/Supervisor in developing and leading daily lesson plans Actively engages with children in the classroom Maintains supervision of children Assists Site Supervisor with parent communication as needed Efficiently communicates with classroom teaching team Performs any other functions deemed necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association. Qualifications Three to six months middle school age youth development related experience preferred; ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred in both English and Spanish. Certificates, Licenses, Registration Blood Borne Pathogen training Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification required within the first 60 days First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days AED-Oxygen Certification required within the first 60 days State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT) Work Environment And Physical Demands Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
