Location: Columbus, OH - Fully Onsite, Monday-Friday
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Contract Duration: 6 Months, with potential for extension or conversion
Pay Rate: $49.65/hour on W2

We are seeking an Internal Communications Specialist to support the development and execution of internal communications programs across a diverse organization.

This role is ideal for a communications professional who can translate business initiatives into clear, engaging messages and effectively coordinate communications across multiple teams and stakeholders. The Internal Communications Specialist will help develop communications plans, create and coordinate content, manage distribution, support creative production, and measure communication effectiveness.

Working closely with the Internal Communications Manager and key stakeholders, this position will help ensure communications are consistent, aligned with organizational objectives, and delivered to the appropriate audiences through the right channels.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of comprehensive internal communications plans and programs .
• Develop clear, engaging internal announcements, project updates, organizational communications, and employee-facing content .
• Ensure internal communications consistently align with established brand standards, messaging, tone, and organizational objectives .
• Identify, gather, organize, and coordinate content required for internal communications initiatives.
• Establish communication objectives, key messages, target audiences, distribution lists, timelines, and other project requirements.
• Coordinate the distribution of internal announcements and communications through approved communication channels.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and establish short- and long-term internal communications goals and objectives .
• Partner with internal teams and external resources to support broader communications strategies and messaging.
• Coordinate with creative resources, vendors, consultants, and suppliers to support the development and production of communications materials.
• Provide creative partners with the appropriate content, direction, background information, and project requirements.
• Oversee the writing, editing, design, layout, production, and distribution of communications materials.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather information, validate messaging, and ensure communications are accurate and timely.
• Respond to questions and inquiries related to internal communications in accordance with established practices.
• Monitor communication performance and measure, analyze, and report on results .
• Identify opportunities to improve communication effectiveness and recommend appropriate changes to leadership.
• Provide status updates and support communications for organizational initiatives and projects.
• Manage multiple communications projects simultaneously while maintaining deadlines, quality standards, and attention to detail.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Must Have Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of professional experience in communications, marketing, business development, research, or a related field preferred.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing internal communications programs and content .
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, audience-appropriate messaging.
• Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and coordination skills .
• Demonstrated creative ability and strong attention to detail.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, creative teams, vendors, and external partners .
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook .

Nice to Have Qualifications

• Experience supporting communications within a technical, manufacturing, aviation, aerospace, engineering, or training environment .
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or similar creative tools preferred.
• Familiarity with technical products, training programs, simulation systems, or regulated industries.
• Understanding of communications supporting organizational change, business initiatives, or enterprise programs.
• Experience monitoring communication metrics and using performance data to improve future communications.
• Experience coordinating the production of communications materials from concept through final distribution.
