HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST V (STATE'S DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN STAFF SUPPORT) - OAHU (OHHI)

Recruitment Number OHHI-26044 This vacancy is located in Downtown and is with the Department of Human Resources Development, Employee Relations Division, Employee Assistance Office. Recruitment is part of the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process with fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai‘i. Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, applicant qualification, and other relevant factors. Job Focus : This position is in the Employee Assistance Office, Employee Relations Division, and is responsible for providing professional staff support services to the State’s Deferred Compensation Plan Board of Trustees to ensure the Board fulfills its statutory and fiduciary duties and that the State’s Deferred Compensation Plan functions smoothly and complies with all State and federal laws, rules and regulations. The incumbent performs complex research, development, and implementation assignments related to Plan administration, including developing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive outreach and education program directed to all eligible State employees; and providing management advisory services and guidance to line personnel staff and others on matters related to the Plan’s implementation and administration. Qualifications Basic Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university. Specialized Experience: Three and a half years of professional work experience in one or more human resources management functions (e.g., recruitment, placement, examination, position classification, payroll administration, employee relations and services, employee development, HR program development and services, labor relations, and HR research). Selective Certification Requirement: Of the required years of HR management experience, one year must involve planning, developing, coordinating, and/or implementing a defined contribution plan. Supervisory Aptitude: Supervisory aptitude may replace actual supervisory experience if evidence of the necessary abilities is provided.
