Aventine Properties is one of the largest property tax grievance consulting firms in New York State. We're hiring a Case Advocate to own a caseload of residential assessment challenges from intake through resolution — including the negotiation itself, not just the paperwork behind it.

This is a negotiation-heavy seat. You'll be putting a number in front of an assessor or hearing officer and defending it with data. If you've got real estate valuation instincts and you're comfortable holding your ground on a price, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Do

• Manage a caseload of residential grievance files from filing through settlement
• Prepare and submit RP-524 / assessment-review paperwork accurately and on deadline
• Research comparable sales and build the evidence package for each case
• Negotiate assessment reductions directly with county review bodies (ARC, BAR) and at SCAR hearings
• Communicate clearly and proactively with homeowners throughout the ~12–18 month process
• Track filing windows and deadlines across multiple towns and counties

What We're Looking For

• Real negotiation experience — you've priced something, defended a number, and closed. Real estate, appraisal, insurance claims, sales, or brokerage backgrounds are all relevant.
• Comfort reading comps and valuation data, and using it to argue a position
• Working knowledge of assessment/property tax processes, or the ability to pick it up fast
• Excellent organization — filing windows are strict and unforgiving, and you'll be running many files at once
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication
• Self-directed and reliable; nothing falls through the cracks on your desk
• Real estate valuation experience in any of: Suffolk, Nassau, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, Greene, or Delaware County is a strong plus
• Prior experience in tax grievance, title, paralegal work, claims adjusting, or case management is a plus
