Senior Manager, US Primary Market Research Flexible commuter role to Thousand Oaks, CA Amgen office. You will work on-site a minimum of 2–3 days a week. What you will do The Senior Manager, US Primary Market Research is a strategic thought partner to brand and cross‑functional teams, responsible for generating rigorous, business‑relevant insights that inform brand strategy, execution, and decision‑making. Key Responsibilities Strategic Thought Partnership: Serve as the primary PMR thought partner to the Commercial team (primarily brand teams), guiding the framing of business questions and translating insights into implications for brand strategy and execution, specifically supporting Consumer/Patient Marketing for Evenity (Bone) and Tezspire (Inflammation). Strategic Thought Partnership (continued): Act as an internal consultant, helping stakeholders move from data to decisions by identifying the “so what” and “now what.” Strategic Thought Partnership (continued): Support key annual activities (e.g., brand planning, executive reviews, budgeting, business cases) with objective, insight‑driven guidance. Insight Generation & Interpretation: Lead the interpretation and synthesis of consumer/patient primary market research findings for Evenity and Tezspire, leveraging standardized dashboards, analytics tools, and AI‑enabled capabilities. Insight Generation & Interpretation (continued): Go beyond descriptive findings to surface insights, risks, opportunities, and strategic tradeoffs. Insight Generation & Interpretation (continued): Integrate learnings across studies, time periods, and data sources to provide a coherent view of brand and portfolio performance. Data & Business Rule Ownership: Own KPI definitions, business rules, and analytic intent for assigned brands and studies, ensuring clarity, consistency, and longitudinal integrity. Data & Business Rule Ownership (continued): Ensure that changes to questionnaires, metrics, or data cuts are intentional, documented, and aligned with relevant partners. Data & Business Rule Ownership (continued): Maintain high standards for data quality, methodological rigor, and trend continuity. Team Leadership & Development: Partner with other PMR and CD&A team members, developing strategic thinking, analytical judgment, and stakeholder confidence. Team Leadership & Development (continued): Coach other PMR team members when needed, to shape their skills and provide business context. Team Leadership & Development (continued): Guide teams on effectively leveraging modern tools and analytics while maintaining strong research fundamentals. Team Leadership & Development (continued): Work with their Director to prioritize and balance business asks, ensuring focus on the highest‑value insight opportunities. Stakeholder Enablement & Change Leadership: Manage expectations with stakeholders regarding self‑service insights vs. value‑add PMR partnership. Stakeholder Enablement & Change Leadership (continued): Facilitate strategic discussions rather than presenting findings, especially where stakeholders have direct data access. Stakeholder Enablement & Change Leadership (continued): Support adoption and effective use of new research tools and ways of working. Capability & Process Advancement: Contribute to the continuous evolution of PMR capabilities, methodologies, and tools. Capability & Process Advancement (continued): Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and impact of primary market research across brands. What we expect of you The professional we seek is a collaborator with these qualifications. Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience in analytics, sales, marketing, or related functions. Master’s degree and 4 years of experience in analytics, sales, marketing, or related functions. Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience in analytics, sales, marketing, or related functions. Associate’s degree and 10 years of experience in analytics, sales, marketing, or related functions. High school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience in analytics, sales, marketing, or related functions. Preferred Qualifications Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences industry. Deep expertise in primary market research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative), preferably in the consumer/patient PMR space. Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and influence decision‑making. Excellent written, verbal, and facilitation skills with senior audiences. Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions in a matrixed environment. Experience coaching and developing talent.
