Unit Coordinator

Responsibilities The Unit Coordinator will assist with maintaining a safe and hazard‑free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting patient room searches, reporting unsafe conditions, and providing appropriate emotional and physical support. The Coordinator will perform or assist with the admission of new patients by gathering routine information for nursing assessment, searching patients and belongings for contraband, and documenting relevant information. Additionally, the Coordinator will orient patients and their families to the facility and its policies and procedures, and assist with leading daily unit‑based groups. Unit and rotation schedule subject to change with promotion. Key Responsibilities Utilize patient activity schedule, unit rules and group structure to maintain consistency in the milieu. Provide clerical and reception duties in support of the department at the nurses’ station and ensure the patient program schedule is carried out as planned. Assist with the duties of an MHT as necessary. Key Physical Requirements Ability to continuously walk and stand for duration of shift. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, pull, lift objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position. Exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Manual dexterity and physical agility to perform de‑escalation procedures. Ability to deal with aggressive, hostile, and irrational behavior of patients calmly and therapeutically. Must be able to respond immediately to crisis situations concerning patients and/or family members; must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation, and foot traffic. Qualifications High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field strongly preferred. MHT at Three Rivers Behavioral for six (6) months preferred. External candidates must have at least one (1) year behavioral health experience and experience in a unit clerk type role.
