AccountantThe following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As an Accountant, you will:Assume responsibility for specific reconcilements, reports, or audits to ensure proper accountability, proper payment of periodic interest and principal through the Bureau's systems, and to provide accurate reporting to Fiscal Accounting OfficePrepare daily customer payments originating from various savings instrument systems.Perform mandated internal audits to ensure proper internal controls.Perform analyses and develop comprehensive reports to provide recommendations to Bureau management concerning current and future problems on the financial implications of proposed actions.Develop and implement new accounting procedures and operating manuals, based upon approved changes.
