Job Description

35%- Medical Student Clerkship and Elective Coordination

• Serves as Program Coordinator for the Neurology Medical Student Clerkship and oversees program activities for third- and fourth-year medical students and visiting students.
• Coordinates schedules for fourth-year students completing neurology electives and communicates schedules to students, faculty, clinical sites, and other stakeholders.
• Acts as liaison among students, course directors, faculty, clinical sites, and the College of Medicine.
• Tracks attendance and submits required reports to the Dean’s Office regarding student performance.
• Coordinates credentialing and onboarding for rotating students at multiple locations and maintains affiliation agreements with external hospitals and rotation sites.
• Manages the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program and ensures compliance with applicable College of Medicine policies and procedures.

25% Non-ACGME Fellowship Coordinator

• Serves as the primary departmental liaison and coordinator to the Graduate Medical Education Office for non-ACGME fellowship programs, including Movement Disorders, Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology, and Headache/Migraine.
• Creates, distributes, tracks, and compiles evaluations for semiannual and annual fellow reviews.
• Schedules and coordinates semiannual Clinical Competency Committee meetings and monitors duty hours when required.
• Provides required reports to the Executive Administrator, Program Directors, and Graduate Medical Education Office.
• Completes annual or monthly scheduling in MedHub, as applicable, and coordinates fellowship recruitment, interviews, and onboarding throughout the academic year.

15%-Administrative Support for the Vice Chair for Education

• Provides advanced administrative and scheduling support to the Vice Chair for Education and the Medical Student Clerkship Director.
• Triages student and program concerns and collaborates with the Vice Chair for Education, Course Directors, and Graduate Medical Education Office to facilitate timely resolution.
• Coordinates faculty letters of recommendation when requested and gathers educational performance information.
• Attends monthly coordinators’ conferences, monthly Curriculum and Evaluation Committee (CEC) meetings, and biannual CEC retreats.
• Provides administrative and meeting support associated with College of Medicine educational accreditation and readiness activities, including preparation for the LCME site visit.

10%- Support for the Neurology Careers in Medicine Advisor

• Provides administrative support to the Neurology Careers in Medicine Advisor in advising third- and fourth-year medical students who are considering careers in neurology.
• Coordinates individual and group career-advising meetings between students and the Neurology Careers in Medicine Advisor.
• Assists with scheduling, communications, meeting materials, follow-up, and related logistics for students planning neurology careers and residency applications.
• Supports activities related to neurology residency career planning and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

10%- MUSC Speech- Language Pathology Student Rotations

• Coordinates shadowing and educational experiences for MUSC Speech-Language Pathology students in Neurology clinics throughout the academic year.
• Develops and distributes clinic schedules to students, faculty, clinic teams, and other stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Communicates upcoming rotations to the residency program and other affected parties before scheduled visits.
• Ensures compliance with College of Medicine policies and procedures and maintains communication with the MUSC Speech-Language Pathology program regarding the student
• experience.

5%- Neurology Visiting Scholars Program s

• Coordinates observerships for residents, fellows, and students from outside MUSC who seek visiting scholar experiences within the Department of Neurology.
• Schedules visits and distributes itineraries to physicians and visiting scholars in a timely manner.
• Serves as liaison to the MUSC Office of Volunteer Services and confirms completion of required onboarding before each observership begins.
