Head Soccer Coach
Warren Easton Charter High School
Description I. POSITION SUMMARY The Head Soccer Coach leads one unified soccer program serving both the boys and girls teams at Warren Easton Charter High School. The role owns the full arc of the season: player development, practice and match leadership, academic eligibility monitoring, LHSAA compliance, safety and supervision, and the culture of the program on and off the pitch. As one of the school's most visible ambassadors, the coach carries The Easton Way into every match, every road trip, and every interaction with families, officials, and opposing programs. This is a standalone, part-time, seasonal position. It is both strategic and hands‑on: the coach sets the multi-year direction of the program while personally leading training and competition. The position reports on a solid line to the Assistant Principal, Student Life & Supports, with a dotted line to the Athletic Director for scheduling, facilities, transportation, and LHSAA coordination. The role supervises assistant and volunteer coaches as assigned. II. ALIGNMENT TO THE EAGLE EYE PRIORITIES The role advances the two Eagle Eye Priorities as follows. Eagle Eye One, Enrich the Easton Experience: athletics is one of the most visible expressions of school culture. The soccer program builds belonging, pride, and shared identity, and gives students a team experience they carry for life. Every practice and match is a public rehearsal of Tradition, Excellence, Family, and Pride. Eagle Eye Two, Elevate Academic Performance: the program keeps academics first. Eligibility monitoring, study expectations, attendance accountability, and the discipline built on the pitch transfer directly to the classroom, and clean LHSAA compliance protects the institution's standing with its authorizer and association. III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The role carries five core functions. A. Program Leadership & Player Development Accountable for: one unified soccer program in which both the boys and girls teams compete with discipline, improve year over year, and reflect The Easton Way in every setting. Design and lead all practices, training plans, and match preparation for both programs across the season. Develop players technically, tactically, and physically at every level of experience, from first-year players to college prospects. Select rosters, name captains, and assign responsibilities to assistant and volunteer coaches. Set and model clear standards for effort, sportsmanship, and conduct at every practice, match, and team function. Plan offseason development opportunities consistent with LHSAA rules and school policy. Measured by: competitive results and year-over-year program growth; player retention from season to season; sportsmanship record, including cards, ejections, and incident reports; student-athlete and family feedback. B. Student-Athlete Academics, Eligibility & Character Accountable for: a program in which every rostered student-athlete remains academically eligible and grows as a student and young person, not only as a player. Monitor grades, attendance, and eligibility for every rostered player in coordination with counselors and teachers. Establish academics-first team structures, including study expectations and regular progress checks. Communicate early with families and school staff when a student-athlete is at risk academically or behaviorally. Reinforce the Portrait of a Graduate competencies through team leadership roles and program culture. Measured by: one hundred percent roster eligibility maintained across the season; team grade point average and attendance; discipline referrals among rostered student-athletes. C. Compliance, Safety & Risk Management Accountable for: full compliance with LHSAA rules and school policy, and the physical safety of every player in the program. Maintain current knowledge of LHSAA bylaws, eligibility rules, and soccer-specific regulations; certify rosters and submit required paperwork on time through the Athletic Director. Verify that every player has a current physical, emergency contact information, and all required consent forms on file before participation. Hold and maintain all certifications required of LHSAA coaches, including first aid and CPR and AED, and ensure assistant coaches do the same. Follow concussion protocols and injury-reporting procedures, and coordinate with athletic training support. Provide continuous supervision of students at practices, matches, and during team travel. Measured by: zero compliance findings or forfeits; complete and current player files before the first practice; timely, complete injury and incident documentation. D. Operations, Scheduling & Equipment Accountable for: smooth season operations, executed in close coordination with the Athletic Director. Coordinate match schedules, officials, facilities, and transportation through the Athletic Director's office. Maintain the uniform and equipment inventory, and submit budget and purchase requests through approved channels only. Manage field readiness and game-day setup in coordination with operations staff. Follow all school procurement, cash-handling, and fundraising policies; the role makes no independent financial commitments on behalf of the school. Measured by: on-time scheduling, travel, and game-day execution; equipment inventory reconciled at season close; adherence to the approved program budget. E. Family, Community & Program Visibility Accountable for: a program that families trust and the Easton community is proud of. Communicate schedules, expectations, and program updates to families clearly and on a predictable cadence. Represent the school professionally with officials, opposing programs, media, and the public. Build interest in the program across the student body and, within LHSAA rules, the broader New Orleans soccer community. Partner with alumni and community supporters of Easton athletics through channels approved by school leadership. Measured by: family communication cadence kept; participation and tryout numbers; professional conduct at all public events. IV. THE EASTON WAY & NXTGENE STEWARDSHIP Every function of this role is performed in service of The Easton Way: Tradition, Excellence, Family, and Pride. The position is a daily steward of school culture, ensuring that the work reflects the institution's legacy while preparing the school to serve a NxtGenE community. The role models discretion, integrity, and care in every interaction, recognizing that people are the school's most valuable asset. V. CONFIDENTIALITY & DATA STEWARDSHIP This position has access to sensitive information, including student records, academic and eligibility data, health and injury information, and family contact information. The role maintains strict confidentiality at all times, accesses and discusses such information only on a need-to-know basis, and safeguards it consistent with applicable federal and Louisiana student-privacy and records obligations, including FERPA. Confidentiality and sound discretion are conditions of employment, and a breach is grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination. VI. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Solid line: the Assistant Principal, Student Life & Supports, who leads student life, activities, and student supports. Program culture, student conduct, family concerns, and the coach's performance expectations are grouped under this line. Dotted line: the Athletic Director, covering match and facility scheduling, officials, transportation, LHSAA paperwork and compliance coordination, equipment, and athletics budgeting. Span of control: the role supervises assistant and volunteer soccer coaches as assigned, and directs the operational processes of the soccer program. VII. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated soccer coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level. All certifications required of LHSAA coaches, held currently or completed before the first official practice, including first aid and CPR and AED and any state-required coaching coursework. Working knowledge of LHSAA eligibility and soccer regulations, or a credible plan to master them before the season begins. Satisfactory criminal background check and all clearances required under Louisiana law for work with students. Availability for afternoon, evening, and weekend practices, matches, and team travel across the full season. VIII. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree. A recognized coaching credential, such as a United States Soccer Federation license or a United Soccer Coaches diploma. Prior head‑coaching experience, including experience leading both boys and girls programs. A record of developing players to collegiate opportunities. Established relationships within the New Orleans and greater Louisiana soccer community. IX. CORE COMPETENCIES Leadership: sets a standard players rise to meet, and builds a team identity larger than any single season. Student‑first judgment: makes decisions that serve the student before the scoreboard, every time. Composure: models self‑control with officials, opponents, and in high‑pressure moments, because players imitate what they see. Organization and reliability: runs paperwork, rosters, schedules, and communication with the same discipline expected on the pitch. Communication: keeps players, families, and school leadership informed clearly, early, and honestly. Integrity: follows every rule, reports every incident, and protects every student, without exception. X. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed primarily on outdoor athletic fields and in school athletic facilities, in variable weather conditions, with regular evening and weekend hours during the season. The position requires sustained periods of standing and movement, active demonstration of athletic techniques, occasional lifting of equipment up to fifty pounds, and travel with the team to away matches. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
